Welcome to our website. The French Creek Art Colony is a group of artists creating art en plein air in the historic French Creek Valley and beyond. Founded in 2006 by Mimi Barclay Johnson, the small group of artists began gathering at the 1717 farm of the founder’s son on this valley’s South Branch of French Creek to paint, share ideas and information, and to celebrate and support each artist’s individuality.
At the invitation of gracious landowners, the artists would meet on location and spend from one to four days painting en plein air to capture nature’s incredible light on paper or canvas. The artists have expanded their plein air travels to other parts of this country and the world, but are always returning to the French Creek Valley to gather together for fellowship and creativity. Please stay and browse, visit the Gallery Pages of our Artists, and, if you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact us at frenchcreekart@gmail.com .
